Bail Industry Resources: Associations, Tools, and News | Captira

Bail industry resources worth knowing

A short, curated list of the associations, tools, and news sources we point bail agencies to. These are the places we see agency owners get real value from, not an exhaustive directory. Everything here is a third party unless it is a Captira product, and every link opens in a new tab.

Industry associations and standards bodies

National groups that handle advocacy, agent certification, continuing education, and industry standards. If you write bail in more than one state, these are the bodies that follow the legislation that affects your license.

  • Professional Bail Agents of the United States (PBUS) - The national trade association for bail agents, active since 1981. Runs certification, continuing education, and legislative advocacy.
  • National Association of Bail Agents (NABA) - National advocacy group that is unusual in also representing fugitive recovery agents alongside bail agents.
  • American Bail Coalition - An association of the bail insurance companies that underwrite most of the bail written in the United States.
  • AIA Bail Bond Surety - One of the longest running bail surety providers, with a large public library of bail education articles and state-by-state guides.
  • ExpertBail - A national network of bail agents backed by a surety, with a public bail industry news and resources section.

Software and tools

Software that helps agencies run day to day. Two of these are ours, and we say so plainly. The first is a separate company we rate for the money side of the business.

  • ti3 - An accounts-receivable recovery platform with a workflow built for bail agencies. Useful when you are chasing unpaid premiums or indemnitor balances rather than defendants.
  • Captira Defendant Watch (our product) - Re-arrest monitoring and geo-fencing inside Captira. Get an email alert when one of your defendants is booked again, and set geo-fence boundaries to manage risk.
  • Captira Recovery Agent Plus (our product) - Case files, field photos, and notes for recovery agents, on web and mobile, with unlimited users across your agency.

Industry news and analysis

Where we keep an eye on what is happening in bail: surety market moves, legislation, and how other agencies are running. Worth a bookmark each.

  • BailWatcher - Industry news and commentary on the surety market, underwriting, and the tools agency offices run on.
  • Bail Bond Digital - Bail market analysis and operating frameworks written for agency owners.
  • The Bail Post - A podcast hosted by Texas bail attorney Ken Good, covering bail legislation and industry developments.
